Biography
Doug Carter, serves as a senior advisor for Sperry Van Ness in Colorado. He specializes in the sale of multifamily property and is approaching 30 years of experience in multifamily brokerage, market research, and apartment ownership. Carter has sold over one third of all 10+ unit complexes in the Colorado Springs market, more than any other firm or individual ever. Carter recently sold a record 40% of all multifamily property sales in 12 months; including the largest multifamily property sale in Colorado Springs’ history. Carter’s annual sales volume has consistently ranked him as one of the top 50 producers among more than 900 brokers nationwide at Sperry Van Ness.
Prior to joining Sperry Van Ness, Carter served as senior marketing consultant for Grubb & Ellis, Hendricks & Partners and Frederick Ross/ARA. For nearly 30 years, Carter has been conducting the city’s quarterly rent, vacancy, and sales survey now known as Apartment Insights, which is widely recognized as the most thorough and reliable research of its type in Colorado Springs.
Carter is a member of the Apartment Association of Colorado Springs and was twice elected the organization’s president. He is the past president of the Partners in Housing Board of Directors, a charitable transitional housing program for potentially homeless families. Additionally, Carter was a co-founder and treasurer of the Trails, Open Space and Parks Political Action Committee.
Carter earned a Bachelor of Science in real estate and finance from the University of Denver. He is a graduate of the Citizen’s Goals Leadership 2000 Program, a civic group of Colorado Spring’s outstanding leaders and was recognized as a “Top 25 Influential People in Commercial Real Estate” by the Colorado Springs Business Journal.
